Desiigner Makes Strides on New EP "L.O.D."
The mumble rapper has been a target for many prominent rappers, one of them being Future. His annoying sounds and skills on the mic were subpar at best, but his luck would change drastically with the hit song “Panda.” Many believed it was Future, however, it wasn’t, and this song launched his career to stardom.
After that, he dropped a project called “New English,” but nonetheless, it was not good, containing a lot of songs filled with nothing but autotune filler and bad lyrics. “Caliber” was the only song I thought that was good on the entire project. But something has changed for the rapper, a switch flipped on his new surprise EP “L.O.D.” Desiigner makes strides in his voice and even sings on this new project that is only about 20 minutes long.
So yes, it is not going to bog down your time or annoy you if you don’t like it or him as a rapper. But the artists rapping and even singing is good to okay. The rapping is much improved, having more substance than any of his other work and his singing voice has made strides equally, even though he doesn’t really sing in his prior work. “Tonka” could have been a better song where Desiigner raps about pretty much nothing here, seeming to rap about a rise to power.
He sings catchy lyrics on “Destiination,” explains the poverty and violence in today’s world on “Hood,” flexes about his ability to fly anywhere with money on “LA to NY” and has a good opener to the project in “Priice Tag.” He equally raps with some nice rhymes on “Pop iiT.” Overall, the EP shows more of Desiigner’s skills even though it is short. Moreover, it shows that the rapper has potential to be good.
